Sara Pimental lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota and works as a freelance illustrator and writer. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in Multicultural Studies from Concordia University, St. Paul, where she minored in Writing and was a NCAA Division II collegiate athlete. A Teach for America alumnus with teaching and non-profit fundraising experience, Sara brings a diverse background of professional experiences to her clients.
A doodler since childhood, Sara is a self-taught creative who pivoted into a career in illustration and design through an Etsy shop. Sara illustrated her first picture book, Like God published with Wise Ink in 2021. She uses mixed media and digital programs like Procreate and Adobe software to create her artwork.
Sara is now pursuing an MFA at Hamline University in Children’s and Young Adult Literature. She writes silly poetry, picture books, and illustrated memoirs. Her writing has been featured in Artful Living, the Star Tribune, and more. Her newsletter–Mild Things–has over 1000 views each month on Substack.
Sara is a mom of three incredible boys (two biological and one through kinship adoption).  She embraces the unique journey of parenting two sons with invisible disabilities. Sara is dedicated to fostering a positive representation of disabled children in literature. Her passion extends to storytelling that centers kids with similar disabilities--like Autism, ADHD, and characters who are G-tube dependent for nutrition. She aims to create narratives that resonate with diverse audiences.

Sara enjoys spending time with her family, trail running, Aeropress coffee, homemade buttered popcorn, and operating a seasonal travel trailer rental business.
