Sara Pimental lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota and works as a freelance illustrator and writer. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in Multicultural Studies from Concordia University, St. Paul, where she minored in Writing and was a NCAA Division II collegiate athlete. A Teach for America alumnus with teaching and non-profit fundraising experience, Sara brings a diverse background of professional experiences to her clients.
A doodler since childhood, Sara is a self-taught creative who pivoted into a career in illustration and design through an Etsy shop. She creates her artwork using mixed media and digital programs like Procreate and Adobe software. Some of her clients include Aunt Fannie's, NGS, and more.
Sara is pursuing an MFA at Hamline University in Children’s and Young Adult Literature. Her writing has been featured in Artful Living, the Star Tribune, and more. Her newsletter–Mild Things–has over 1000 monthly views on Substack.
Sara is a mom of three incredible boys (two biological and one through kinship adoption). She embraces the unique journey of parenting two sons with invisible disabilities. Sara is dedicated to fostering a positive representation of disabled children in literature.
